Body-Centered Coaching is a unique somatic style of coaching that assists clients to embody their innate wisdom and move through disempowering beliefs, fusions and fears. It supports clients to make decisions from an integrated and aligned state of body, mind and spirit.
The fundamentals of Body-Centered Coaching are founded on the perspectives that the client has her/his own answer and their body is a resource for change. While embodying a state of empowered listening the coach can guide the client through mindful awareness to discover their own truth.
Inherent within this modality are values and skills that align with the Hakomi principles of mindfulness, present moment experience, loving presence, nonviolence, and organicity.

The nine processes are delivered in 3 modules: Behond Disempowering Beliefs, Decision Making and Embodied Recourses. Each of the 3 modules contains 3 processes therefore 9 in total.
After each module there is a one week break from regular class time where I offer a bonus call for review, Q & A and an opportunity for participants to break into groups to practice with each other. Along the way the class roster also offers a resource for class mates to contact each other for practice sessions. Therefore, there are 12 scheduled calls all together.

About Marlena Field, Founder of the Body-Centered Coaching Method:
In the spring of 1991, my dearest friend Donna Martin and I first met Ron Kurtz for a five day event at Hollyhock. I then attended a two year in person training (1991-1993) with Ron Kurtz and Jon Eisman where I met my good friend Beth Falch-Nielsen. I became a CPCC – Certified Co-Active Coach - in 2001.
Hakomi principles are foundational to my integration and the development of my Body-Centered Coaching Method. I began teaching tele-trainings and wrote Body-Centered Coaching: using the body as a resource for change in 2005. I updated the manual in 2012. . I updated it to the Complete Training Manual in 2012. I have certified both CBCC (Certified Body-Centered Coach) coaches and Body-Centered Coach Trainers.
Marlena Field has been my best friend for over 35 years. We discovered Hakomi together and we both love the focus on embodied experience. Marlena was interested in the application of Hakomi to life coaching and has brought her understanding of Hakomi along with her own unique and inspired way of being to Body-Centered Coaching. She is a dynamic and charismatic teacher and is a beautiful example of what we mean by loving presence. Marlena has a gift for inspiring others to tune into themselves deeply and to help others to find the most creative and effective expression of themselves in the world.

Marlena Field has been a friend and colleague for many years. She was a very good Hakomi therapist and when she shifted to being a coach, she found a way to bring together many aspects of her life's experiences and trainings. Her Body-Centered Coaching is a wonderful blend of using a somatic, mindfulness approach to coaching. I have seen her work grow and expand and her reputation and respect as a coach and trainer deepen. I highly endorse her work and trainings for those people who have studied Hakomi and would like to either add coaching to what they do, or shift from therapy to coaching: also for anyone who would like to coach the whole person in a somatically, mindfulness based way.

Here are testimonials from students who attended Marlena’s Introduction to Body-Centered Coaching in 2020:
I am so pleased with the Body-Centered Coaching Training I received with Marlena Field. I could not have asked for a more engaging and enriching experience, both personally and professionally. Every aspect of my experience was first class, including the training materials and sessions.
I looked forward to every session and benefited personally and professionally from each. My toolbox as a professional wellness coach has expanded tremendously with Marlena’s training. I understand better than ever before the wisdom of the body and how to tap into it for myself and with my clients.
I’ve also learned through Marlena’s training and example how to be present with my clients in ways I could not have previously imagined. Marlena has shared with me and other participants the specific tools that will allow us to be an affirming and healing presence for our clients as we support them in creating their lives going forward.
I give Marlena’s training my highest recommendation. It’s been such a gift!

The Body-Centered Coaching techniques help to give voice to the subtle and sometimes not so subtle messages coming from my body. Marlena's open and non-judgmental approach in this work sets the stage to allow the body, mind and spirit to have a much needed conversation. In my experience, a calm clarity is the reward for coming into this kind of alignment with myself. Thank you for sharing this important work with the world, Marlena!

This class was a win-win for me. First: I feel comfortable going deep into the body when I coach, second: I have had personal benefits with self -coaching. I now give parts of my body love and compassion and feel the healing afterwards. I am so glad I joined this class.

Although I am not yet a coach, I learned so much that has already been helpful to me in my personal life and my work as a nurse leader. I now have these tools that I can use in real-time that offer further proof of what I've known... that of the mind, body, spirit connection.
Melinda Ball, RN
I would recommend Body-Centered Coaching with Marlena Field to anyone who is interested in helping people to become whole and embodied.
Corinne Gerber
Very cohesive by way of a well held space & informing/preparing participants of the scope of the course & each call. The training framework was flexible enough to be shaped to participants evolving needs. The wisdom of the group was welcomed & honoured in a way that all seemed to benefit from. I felt the profound embodied impact of the primarily experiential delivery. What a beautiful experience! Thank you.
Shealagh King
Thank you! This was exactly what I was looking for to enhance my professional development, working with the body and its wisdom in a digestible way. Your tools have inspired my creativity as well as increased my confidence because I have put some very concrete tools in my toolbox after this class. Personally, I have come to peace with my next steps and will continue to develop as a Body-Centered Coach. I also want to mention how comforted I was by the organization of your class and material as well as the calm competence with which it was delivered. Thank you, Marlena.
