1. What is Body-Centered Coaching?
- The Body-Centered Coaching Method, developed by Marlena Field, is a blend and integration of the teachings of the Hakomi Method of Psychotherapy, the coaching methods of The Coaches Training Institute (CTI) and other studied modalities. It is a body, mind and spirit approach. Foundationally, the method is built on the qualities of mindfulness, simply being, reflective presence and embodied wholeness. It taps into the natural intelligence of the body and incorporates the body's wisdom to assist clients to access body information that creates a greater depth of insight, self-awareness and self-acceptance. The practice of body-centered coaching can be done in person or over the phone with deep, penetrating and sustainable results.

4. What does Body-Centered offer that is different from other somatic trainings?
- Body-Centered Coaching has a unique set of skills designed specifically for coaches, therapists and other helping professionals that incorporates multi-disciplinary approaches to deliver sustainable change.
- Its foundation is based on mindfulness, simply being, reflective presence, body wisdom and embodied wholeness.
- It is able to be taught and practiced in-person or over the phone with equal effectiveness.
- The training is offered as an adjunct to what a coach or other helping professional is already doing. It is not intended to be a full training program that involves many hours of training and a substantial financial investment.
- It is not a cookie-cutter approach, meaning the skills and techniques are flexible and versatile and the coach or helping professional can use them in their own style.
- It is a coaching model, which focuses on coaching issues. It is not a therapy model.
- It is not a leadership model geared towards organizational or team development although it could be easily applied in those settings. Rather, it provides helping professionals with an additional and dynamic modality that can be applied to one-on-one coaching or group coaching.
5. Where should I start?
- Start where you like. You may wish to begin with the Book & Audio package which will allow you to study Body-Centered Coaching at your convenience. The book introduces you to the skills & techniques of Body-Centered Coaching and the Audio demonstrates its application through various live examples recorded from prior Tele-Seminars.
- Marlena's 7 week Tele-Seminar Series is a fabulous opportunity to witness demonstrations, volunteer to be the coachee, engage in conversation and ask questions of Marlena that are relevant to the studied skill and technique. Marlena includes an e-book titled “The Method Condensed” which offers one-page summaries of each of the techniques for use when working directly with clients.
- The Workshop offers a 3 day training in a supportive and inspiring environment that includes teaching of the skills & techniques, demonstrations and extensive practice and feedback for all participants. 6. How can I use the Continuing Education Credits that Marlena offers for her courses?
- Marlena has been qualified by the ICF (International Coaching Federation) to teach her method of Body-Centered Coaching. Coaches and counsellors can use the credits to meet the requirements set by their associations and governing bodies. Marlena provides a certificate of attendance and continuing education credits for each of her courses.
- For coaches, the ICF continuing education credits can be used towards renewing their designations of ACC, PCC and MCC. They can also by used by coaches going through the portfolio route of accreditation.
- For counsellors, the certificate can be sent to the Canadian Counselling Association.
- You can refer to Tele-Seminars and Workshops for specific course credits.

7. How will Body-Centered Coaching help me, as the coach?
- As a coach, the body-centered experience will help you to be more in touch with your own body wisdom, connect more with your intuition, be more present and personally use the skills and techniques for yourself as a self-coaching experience.
